About Us
The Spontaneous Shakespeare Company is Vancouver’s premiere improvised Shakespeare company. Composed of some of Vancouver’s best acting and improv talent, they bring their hilarious twist on the works of the Bard to audiences all over the country!
Originally founded as Shakespeare After Dark, co-created by Zach Wolfman and Chelsey Stuyt, the company began at Instant Theatre, performing critically acclaimed, sold out shows at the Havana Theatre and Rio Theatre, as well as multiple appearances at the Vancouver Improv Festival. After a COVID induced hiatus, founding company member Brent Hirose took over as Artistic Director, bringing together a cast of new and familiar faces to restore the show to Vancouver stages, and for the first time to tour beyond BC! The company has now performed at the Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton and Vancouver Fringe Festivals, the Vancouver Improv Festival and the Bellingham Improv Festival, with regular performances at home at Little Mountain Gallery in Vancouver and many more exciting shows to come!
